Customer story
Accon Suomi Oy
For Accon Suomi, a company operating in the packaging industry, its personnel are its most important resource. In the fast-paced everyday life of a growth-oriented company, the strong local presence, expertise, and personal service of its occupational health partner truly stand out.
Listen to why Managing Director Petri Laasanen and Production Manager Timo Grönfors recommend us (in Finnish):
Local occupational health for the needs of an international company
Based in Kokkola, Accon manufactures and imports industrial packaging for the Finnish and international markets. The company specialises in flexible intermediate bulk containers and has been part of the Norwegian Accon Group since 2015.
For Accon, it was important to find a local occupational health partner that understands the company’s everyday operations and can respond quickly when needed.
– Botnia knows us, and we know Botnia. That is a good thing for us, says Petri Laasanen, Managing Director of Accon Suomi.
Personal service and familiar contact persons are key benefits
When Accon was looking for a new occupational health partner, one need stood out above all others: personal service. Following a tendering process, the collaboration with Botnia Occupational Health began in 2019.
Today, the occupational health collaboration between Accon and Botnia includes general practitioner and laboratory services, physiotherapy, occupational psychology services, and, when needed, referrals for further examinations such as MRI scans.
Accon also has its own designated occupational health contact person, making it possible to turn to a familiar contact time after time. Botnia has assessed the company’s needs on site and understands the conditions in which the employees work. The long-term partnership is reflected in smooth everyday collaboration, a low sickness absence rate, and straightforward communication.
– It is much easier when there is continuity. The same people are still there. It is considerably easier to talk about health matters with a familiar person than if they changed every time, Laasanen says.
Accon’s Production Manager Timo Grönfors has also worked with Botnia for several years and mentions one strength that has become increasingly clear over time:
– It is a certain kind of closeness.
Customer-oriented service brings value in all situations
At Accon, Botnia is seen as a partner that understands the company’s needs: time is not spent going over the situation from the beginning, because the partner immediately understands what the issue is.
Tripartite meetings have also been found particularly useful at Accon, as they allow suitable solutions to be considered together by the employee, the employer, and occupational health professionals.
Situations can also arise outside office hours. Laasanen and Grönfors recall how, when it truly mattered, they were able to move things forward with Botnia even over the weekend.
– It is also a matter of values that Botnia makes sure the connection works. Even when there is not necessarily anything specific to discuss, they get in touch and ask how we are doing, Grönfors says.
“I reached our contact person on a Sunday when we had an urgent situation and really needed help. Things started moving forward with just one message, and by Monday, help was already available.”
– Petri Laasanen
Occupational well-being is a long-term commitment
Accon is committed to the health and well-being of its personnel. The role of occupational health collaboration is not viewed only from a financial perspective; at the centre are employee satisfaction, smooth everyday operations, and reliable expertise.
At Accon, a low sickness absence rate is seen as an important indicator, as the work in production is physically demanding. High-quality occupational health services and the employer’s active investment in occupational well-being have borne fruit:
– The result is motivated and healthy employees. They know that if they have a concern, they can approach someone in occupational health services or raise the matter through the employer, Grönfors says.
What message does Accon have for companies considering switching to Botnia Occupational Health?
– Try it. Test it. You will be surprised, Grönfors says.
“We have a great deal of trust in Botnia.”
– Petri Laasanen
