Customer story
Ab Rani Plast Oy
Companies with a large workforce place equally substantial demands on the resources and organisation of occupational health services.
Jan-Erik Höglund, HR Director at Rani Plast, talks (in Finnish) about our services:

Occupational health services with high capacity
Jan-Erik Höglund, HR Director at Ab Rani Plast Oy in Terjärv, is very pleased with how Botnia Occupational Health has served the company’s approximately 420 employees.
As you approach Terjärv, you can spot Rani Plast’s factory building towering over the pine forest, an unmistakable landmark. The family-owned company in Terjärv is a global player specialising in smart packaging solutions for the industrial and agricultural sectors.
The company’s diverse production demands extensive expertise, specialised production units, and, most importantly, a stable workforce. At Rani Plast, they’ve noticed how much the latter is supported by having functional occupational health services.
– Although we are a large company, Botnia has always provided us with ample resources, says Höglund.
On-site health clinic at the factory
When Rani Plast was looking for an occupational health service provider, they had a long-term vision. The goal was to tailor the services to the company’s needs, and they wanted to find a local provider willing to learn about Rani Plast and its operations across its various departments.
– We found what we were looking for in Botnia Occupational Health. They were established in 2019, and we’ve been their client since the start, says Höglund.
The customisation of the occupational health services has gone smoothly, and nowadays, a healthcare professional is present at Rani Plast’s factory every Tuesday. This arrangement has simplified daily life for the company’s employees, who no longer need to travel to Kokkola or Jakobstad for healthcare. The regular contact between the healthcare provider and the staff has also increased the understanding of workplace health risks.
– The best result is when we can improve workplace health and reduce the need for healthcare services through proactive measures.
There are no hidden fees, and you always know what you’re paying for.
Good care at the right price
Occupational healthcare is always primarily about the well-being and work capacity of people. But for a company of Rani Plast’s size, it inevitably becomes an important financial matter as well. Höglund is therefore pleased that Botnia Occupational Health offers competitive and transparent pricing.
– There are no hidden fees, and you always know what you’re paying for. They are able to keep their pricing at a competitive level because they are an association, not a profit-driven company.
The occupational healthcare market in Finland is currently dominated by a few major players. Höglund emphasises that it is beneficial for consumers and the competitive landscape that Botnia Occupational Health serves as a complement in that market.
– I’ve been working in HR for 25 years and have tried almost every healthcare service provider in this country, and I’ve been very satisfied with Botnia.
Although Höglund gives the current collaboration with Botnia Occupational Health a high rating, there are still plans to further develop the occupational healthcare services.
– We already have a healthcare provider stationed at the factory, but we’ve also considered the possibility of having a doctor on-site.
